JD Vance - The Brutalist

Having risen to the second highest position in government as Vice President at the same age that Richard Nixon assumed the same post under Dwight Eisenhower, Vance's rise has been swift. Many powerful yogas in his chart contribute to his extraordinary fortitude in the face of immense difficult situations experienced in his childhood.

Amongst all the positive aspects of his chart that advance him quickly in life lie some particularly concerning snares that await expression in his prominent position on the world stage. Sharing another similarity, both Vance and Nixon have Jupiter in debilitation. This combined with Saturn in Scorpio and casting strong aspect to his Sun are recipes for potential disaster. Let's take a deeper look on how these influences have shaped him, the forms it may take in the future and how it will affect world events.

Ruchaka Yoga: The Warrior's Constitution

Yogas in a birth chart are planetary combinations that produce tangible results in the life of a person. To begin with Vance has Ruchaka Yoga made by Mars being in it's own house and in an angle, the 4th house from his rising sign of Leo. This yoga gives him a pitta constitution which we see in his fiery rhetoric, energetic and hardworking nature of being enthusiastic, daring, brave and love of fighting.

The old texts say this makes one "favorite of the king" and we can see this yoga gives the results seen by Trump's gravitation toward him as a vice president and making him another symbol of Mars, the general. This weaponizes his personality and has been used as such by Trump and the conservative right's agenda. The liabilities of this yoga are propensities to being rash, arrogant, irascible, and of harsh temperament. His sharpness is his main weapon through which he defeat opponents and gains allies.

He believes he is doing something good and yet because Saturn is afflicting his Mars this "good" he thinks he is doing comes through a type of oppression and cruelty. He is very adept at using his will power to get results and yet the use of his will is based on his ideas and concepts which we will see contain challenges from within and from without.

Astrocartography: Roots in Bloody Breathitt

From an Astrocartography perspective JD Vance's place where he felt the most at home from his book Hillbilly Elegy was in Jackson Kentucky which aligns succinctly with Mars on his Imum Coeli. This line denotes heritage, family and foundations, compounding this effect is Mars in his 4th house which is the very same Imum Coeli in his natal chart making an exceptional strong connection to this place.

When we look at the foundations and past of this area of Appalachia we find such harrowing histories as the fifty year period known as "Bloody Breathitt" named for the county in which Jackson marks the epicenter for family feuds stemming from the Civil War. These feuds were so egregious that the Governor of Kentucky sent in the state militia three times to restore law and order. From 1870 to 1920 it is estimated that about 100 men were killed during this time and 40 of them in the two years of 1901 and 1902.

The fourth house representing our deepest connections and "kinsmen" shows that he is a son of Appalachia but this lineage is one of disorder, vengeance and violence. It is no coincidence that this is the very same condition of the country as a whole in which he has ascended to the Vice Presidency. Vance's persona of aggressive strength and intelligence has been bred this way over centuries of infighting from his historical roots. We have already seen his divisiveness at home and now it is spanning the globe with his role in Europe and Ukraine.

The Double-Edged Sword of Power

JD Vance's many powerful yogas such as Lakshmi Yoga giving wealth and prosperity, Pushkala "magnificent" Yoga, Subha "auspicious" Yoga, Amara "imperishable" Yoga, and Mahabhagya "great fortune" Yoga are all energizing and promoting his quick advance into the highest realms of power.

Yet another Yoga that is not as beneficial has played a role in this process, that one being called Kapata, "Deceit". This Yoga is formed when a malefic planet is in the fourth house and the lord of that house is under malefic influence. Negative thoughts, emotions, feelings and actions that are difficult to see but in time are revealed are the signs of this combination.

Since the 4th house is a hidden house people with this yoga tend to hide from themselves first and then to others. This produces the classic hypocrite which we have seen from his flip flop from a "never Trump guy" to one of his most staunch supporters and right hand man. The fourth house connection with this yoga reaches back all the way to those bloody battles and lawless actions from the land where he holds so much nostalgia.

Jupiter in Debilitation: The Big Picture Problem

The debilitation of his Jupiter is one of the main concerns because Jupiter rules seeing things from the "big picture" point of view and when dealing with power on the world stage we really need leaders to be operating from this perspective. Vance is not capable of this and will resort to seeking quick gains through confrontations that are aimed at seeking more and more power without regard to higher ideas that are capable of bringing people together.

His Saturn and Mars conjunction will inhibit him from knowing when to stop which was on great display with the intense pressure he exhibited towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office at the end of February 2025. Jupiter ruling our sense of truth and justice points to the painful assessment that Vance believes much of the conspiracy theories that are the common parlance of the right's talking points.

The Karmic Arc of Power

In looking at Vance's chart we see someone who is perfectly poised to be an actor of great power, force and intelligence in the current environment of divisive politics and warring factions at home and in the world at large. He will surely garner the respect from those who are ushering in the new political process and yet if he becomes the emissary of his most beloved land and its bloody past, who will pay the price for this headlong charge?

What greater power will send in militias to restore law and order in his wake when he is second in command of the most powerful army in the world? Greater karmic arches that are shaping future events stretch out beyond his tenure as VP. These hold both potential cataclysm and possible panacea. It is to these greater forces that at once are seemingly ethereal are yet residing in the hearts and minds of the masses. It is these masses and their anger that gave shape to such a person as JD Vance and so the turning of the tide resides inside.
